Roger Bréval, born on 3 May 1877 in Beauvais, was a painter whose life and work perfectly embody the spirit of the travelling painters of the early 20th century.
Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he travelled to Egypt in 1905, later founding the « Les Chimères » artists' group, before retiring to Rainvillers where he painted until his death in 1946.
